QA Engineer

QA engineers begin by learning manual testing techniques, writing test cases, and reporting bugs effectively. Junior QA engineers understand testing fundamentals including boundary value analysis, equivalence partitioning, and exploratory testing.

Mid-level QA engineers transition toward test automation, writing automated tests using frameworks like Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or Appium. They design test strategies, build automation frameworks, and integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines.

Senior QA engineers lead testing strategy for their team or product area, making decisions about test architecture, tooling, and quality metrics. They mentor other testers, advocate for quality in the development process, and build performance and security testing capabilities.

The title is evolving toward Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), reflecting the increasing emphasis on programming skills and infrastructure automation.
